Earlier in 2020 KKR, a world-renowned investment firm, announced the final closing of its Global Impact Fund, which will invest $1.3B USD in companies that address important Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues.
Barghest Building Performance, or BBP, was one of the first companies that this Fund invested in. By investing in BBP, KKR demonstrated that the firm is interested in BBP’s goal of reducing energy usage without redirecting resources into costly new infrastructures. BBP offers an innovative solution for reducing HVAC energy usage, combining data analytics with real-time monitoring and adjustment of each specific building. BBP’s solution has saved clients up to 40% of their energy costs, and KKR’s investment will help them to continue developing new offerings and expanding into new markets.
